چکیده

We report the fabrication and characterization of a simple gate-free graphene device as a pH sensor. The graphene sheets are made by mechanical exfoliation. Platinum contact electrodes are fabricated with a mask-free process using a focused ion beam and then expanded by silver paint. Annealing is used to improve the electrical contact. The experiment on the fabricated graphene device shows that the resistance of the device decreases linearly with increasing pH values (in the range of 4–10) in the surrounding liquid environment. The resolution achieved in our experiments is approximately 0.3 pH in alkali environment. The sensitivity of the device is calculated as approximately 2 k pH−1. The simple configuration, miniaturized size and integration ability make graphene-based sensors promising candidates for future micro/nano applications.

Graphene Sensors

Polycrystalline graphene sensors are presented by Richard I. Masel and co-workers on page 53. The image shows polycrystalline graphene ribbon chemiresistors with gold contacts visualizing linear defects or wrinkles in the graphene. Floating or attached toluene molecules act as electron donors. Such defective graphene devices exhibit a higher chemical sensitivity than pristine graphene or carbon...

Polycrystalline graphene ribbons as chemiresistors.

A IO N Graphene is a two-dimensional semimetal with zero band gap that exhibits excellent electrical, mechanical and thermal properties.[1,2] Transport through delocalized pi bonds allows charge carriers in graphene to achieve high mobility[3,4] for both electrons and holes, over ∼105 cm2/V·s for freely suspended graphene and >104 cm2/V·s for graphene on SiO2. Recent studies have suggested that...

Inkjet-Printed Graphene/PEDOT:PSS Temperature Sensors on a Skin-Conformable Polyurethane Substrate

Epidermal electronic systems (EESs) are skin-like electronic systems, which can be used to measure several physiological parameters from the skin. This paper presents materials and a simple, straightforward fabrication process for skin-conformable inkjet-printed temperature sensors. Epidermal temperature sensors are already presented in some studies, but they are mainly fabricated using traditi...
